Recent Music

For the most part, I compose art music for acoustic instruments. That said, I am always on the lookout for intriguing collaborations! I self-publish my music through the Magic Line Edition imprint (ASCAP). Please contact me for information about current projects, for a complete works list or perusal scores, or to inquire about commissioning a new work.

La Tierra Yerma for Soprano and Piano Trio (forthcoming)

My current project is a setting of Pedro Salinas's "La Tierra Yerma" for soprano Mary Logan Hastings and the Litton Piano Trio. The poem is drawn from Presagios (1924).

Cascades for Wind Quintet (2017)

Cascades is a three-movement work for woodwind quintet that I wrote for the faculty ensemble at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, who will premiere the piece on campus this April.

Salinas Songs for Soprano and Piano (2016)

Salinas Songs is comprised of three songs with poetry by Pedro Salinas (1891-1951). The texts are drawn from Seguro Azar, a collection he assembled between 1924 and 1928.

Capriccio for Piano (2015)

Capriccio is a short, flashy composition that would be appropriate as an encore. The work is a composite of several disparate sketches that are linked by a six-note motif.

Cycles for Piano (2014)

Commissioned by the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in celebration of their 50th anniversary, Cycles is a four-movement work inspired by the ebb and flow of academic life.

Elegy for Flute and Piano (2013)

Composed in memoriam John Levey Sr., Elegy is a simple work based upon one of the first-order all-combinatorial hexachords: set class (023457).
